ZUZIMA

Artistic Directors

Nevo Romano

Choreographer, artist, and performer.
A graduate of the Buchmann–Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv and the School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem. Nevo has collaborated and created with artists including Liat Dror & Nir Ben Gal, Nava Frankel, Daniel Landau, Maya Landsmann, Ariel Cohen, and Shani Granot.

His works have been supported by the Israel Lottery Council for Culture & Arts, the Ministry of Culture, the Interdisciplinary Arena, the Rabinovich Foundation, and the Tmuna Theatre, among others. They have been presented in London, Germany, Poland, Budapest, and Croatia, where he received the Innovation and Best Performance Award at the PUF Festival.

Alongside his artistic practice, Nevo has taught in the Dance Department at Sapir College and participated in the Dancer in the Community project initiated by the Ministry of Culture.

Nevo teaches a contemporary technique class

At Zuzima, Nevo teaches Contemporary Technique, focusing on the relationship between the moving body and the ground. His classes emphasize the dynamic interplay of active and passive states, providing technical tools that enable the body’s weight to move fluidly on, into, and from the floor.

Yaara Perach Reich

A graduate of the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. Upon returning to Israel, she founded the Igra.Rama Collective, whose works have been presented at numerous festivals and venues in Israel and abroad — 

including the Klipa Theatre, Jerusalem Festival, Acco Festival, Clownin Festival (Austria), and ACUD Theatre (Berlin).

Yaara collaborated and performed with La Passionata Svironi in The Neighborhood — winner of the Jury Award at the Bat Yam Festival and presented internationally.

Over the years, Yaara has studied extensively with Alexandre Del Perugia (France) and received his blessing to teach his method in Israel. She  currently participates in the co-production Eye of the Storm, in collaboration with the Hostellerie de Pontempeyrat (France).

Yaara teaches a 'Research-Performance' course

At Zuzima, Yaara teaches the Performance Research course, which refines stage presence and performative awareness, expands spatial perception, explores our means of creation and cultivates the ability to create and share personal work before an audience.

Avital Ifargan

Avital Ifargan

Black belt in Karate, trained in Sishin Kitado under Master “Shihan” Ken White and certified as an instructor. A graduate of Shiatsu studies at Medicine College and of Contact Improvisation studies with Zohar Rabinovitz. For a decade, he danced and created with the Liat Dror & Nir Ben Gal Dance Company. Today he works as an independent artist exploring the relationship between body and wood, with works exhibited in galleries and exhibitions across Israel.

Partnering

A technique based on using one’s own weight and that of a partner, skeletal awareness, and efficient use of the body’s mass. The class integrates principles from martial arts, acrobatics, and contact improvisation. Participants explore partner-based movement materials, investigate bodily relationships, and create duets and group compositions.

Snunit Barban

Snunit Barban

Graduate of P.A.R.T.S School for Contemporary Dance (Brussels) and the Vertigo Training Program; certified Gaga teacher. She has performed works by Orly Portal, Doron Raz, Rachel Erdos, Ruth Hof, and others. Also a circular breathing therapist, she teaches movement and dance for people with diverse abilities

Contemporary Dance & Choreographic Tools

This class introduces key principles and techniques of contemporary dance, establishing a foundation for understanding movement structures and qualities. It cultivates awareness of inner bodily connections through attentive listening to layers

Maayan Shoval

Maayan Shoval

Graduate of Adama School of Dance and of choreographic studies with Idan Cohen. Alongside her career as a performer and creator, she directed the Fata Morgana dance program and is one of the founding members of ZuzimA in Mitzpe Ramon.

Ballet

Classical ballet taught through a contemporary lens, emphasizing anatomical awareness and movement mechanics while expanding the dancer’s virtuosity and expressive range within structured aesthetics. The class deepens work on technical foundations, strength and flexibility, coordination, movement memory, and development of core muscles and stamina.

Yagel Bassok

Yagel Bassok

Graduate of the Choreography Program at Kelim Center, and of Film and Choreography Studies at Adama School and Sapir College. Works across performance, dance, and video. His pieces have been presented at Kelim Center, Atelier Shami Gallery, Machol Shalem, Adama Center, and the Southern Film Festival. Initiator of artistic–social projects and an experienced movement educator.

Elements of Movement

An annual course that explores the fundamental mechanisms of movement. Students develop embodied knowledge and practical learning tools through guided sequences, group physical research, and engagement with philosophical and theoretical texts.

Emmanuelle Bougard

Emmanuelle Bougard

Graduate of the Ballet du Nord School (France) and the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) in Austria. She has danced with leading choreographers in France and later joined the Liat Dror & Nir Ben Gal Dance Company in Israel. Currently performs and teaches repertoire and improvisation.

Repertoire

An in-depth study of original repertoire as well as excerpts from internationally acclaimed choreographers. Through exploration of movement, motivation, and intention, students refine organic movement into defined spatial phrasing while expanding expressive capacity within diverse choreographic contexts.

Yael Rosenstein

Yael Rosenstein

Graduate of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Yoga and movement teacher, practitioner of Chinese Medicine

Training, Intention, Reflection

A weekly opening session that integrates physical practices from yoga and dance with intuitive writing and complementary tools. The class offers a mindful and embodied framework for entering the week with clarity, focus, and intention.
